Capture
See an Android phone's screen on your computer, and record it as evidence.
Capture shows an Android phone or tablet's screen live on a Windows computer, by USB cable or wirelessly over Wi-Fi, and records it: video, still images taken automatically, and a signed record of every file. Nothing is installed on the phone, and nothing is sent from it. The record of who captured what, and when, is made at the time rather than reconstructed months later for a report or a hearing.
How it works
- Connect the phoneBy USB cable or pair over Wi-Fi with no cable at all on newer Android versions. Wireless works whenever the phone and the computer share a Wi-Fi network.
- Watch it liveThe phone's screen appears on the computer as soon as it answers. The computer stays usable for other work while Capture runs.
- RecordPress Record and Capture records on its own until you press Stop: video the whole time and, in Advanced mode, a still image each time the screen changes. Take a full-resolution screenshot of your own at any moment with one button.
- StopEverything from the recording is in one folder on storage you choose, with a review page and, in Advanced mode, a signed manifest of every file.
What a recording contains
- Continuous video
- The unbroken record, start to stop, with the date and time burned into every frame. Its running time equals the real time that passed.
- Condensed video
- In Advanced mode, only the stretches where the screen changed, so hours of an idle screen become a short video. It is shorter than real time by design and is made alongside the continuous recording, so you can review a long session quickly and still have the full record.
- Automatic still images
- In Advanced mode (and in Simple with text reading on), a picture is saved each time the screen changes, without anyone pressing a button, alongside your own screenshots.
- Text from the screen (optional)
- Text read from the still images by Windows' own text recognition, on your computer, never online. A quick way to search and review: every line links to the image it came from, so it is easy to confirm.
- Review page
- One page listing everything in the recording, searchable by the text read from the images.
- Signed manifest
- In Advanced mode, every file's SHA-256 hash, listed in a manifest that is signed, so a later change to any file is detectable.
Two ways to work
- Simple
- One small window with two buttons: press Record video when you want video, and Screenshot any time, recording or not. Nothing to set up and nothing to learn. Simple keeps it light: recordings are saved without file hashes or a signature. When you need a sealed record, with every file hashed, signed and attributed, switch to Advanced with one click.
- Advanced
- The full application: sessions that keep one investigation together, the investigator's name and Windows account recorded with every recording, hashing and signing, checking a transcript message by message (each decision records who made it and when), and export packages for a prosecutor or examiner.
- Scrolling from the computer
- In Advanced, the investigator can scroll the phone from the computer. Scrolling only, by design, so the phone is never changed: no taps, no typing, nothing sent.

Built for evidence
- Accountability
- In Advanced, "who recorded this" is a typed name plus the Windows account and computer name, recorded automatically rather than remembered.
- Output you control
- Files land in the folder you choose. Capture also flags a cloud-synced folder before you record, so sensitive material stays where you put it.
- No cloud processing
- Everything is processed on your own computer: text reading, review and storage all stay local, and your evidence never leaves your control.
- Morpheus Validator
- A free checker for anyone you hand a recording to: it checks every file's hash and the manifest's signature, needs no license, and sends nothing anywhere.
